Learning TM doesn’t require any change in lifestyle or religion. It is a purely practical technique which is practiced in all cultures and religions in order to get an experience that seems to have a positive effect on all areas of life.
Transcending is an experience which allows us to become more ourselves, it allows us to come back in touch with our true natural selves. This means that all things that are unnatural, such as stress, addictions, negative emotions, diseases, will start to normalize.
At the same time our inner voice of what is right and wrong will become stronger. As such there is no need for rules or lifestyle changes when one learns TM. We just learn to listen to ourselves more. As a result many things will be changing in the right direction but these changes will all happen spontaneously, naturally.
Usually people who are learning TM notice that they are also getting a greater appreciation for their own culture and religion. Transcending is an essential human experience that was once an essential part of all cultures and religions, before the proper technique was forgotten. When people add this inner experience to the outer aspects of their cultures or religions, they usually find a deeper intimate connection to the outer aspects. After all our cultures and our religions form an essential part of who we are.
One of the most beautiful examples of this can be found in Colombia, where a devout Catholic Priest started to use TM to give streetchildren a new life.
Father Gabriel Mejia now runs the most successful children rehabilitation project in all of Latin America. He has 52 centers in Columbia and his program (the TM technique) is now being adopted across the entire continent.
